Q: Will the Scat Mat hurt my pet?
A: No. The Scat Mat generates pulses like static electricity. You've probably felt these on dry days when you touch a door knob or metal object. They are surprising, but otherwise harmless. The Scat Mat creates this same type of sensation.

Q: Will the Scat Mat harm my child?
A: No. Your child will feel a static type sensation when stepping on the mat with bare or stocking feet. It's surprising, but harmless. Here is a link to more on safety. Click here.

Q: What setting should I use if I have both small and large pets to train?
A: Use the High setting.

Q: What if my pet jumps over the mat?
A: Doorways are the toughest challenge for Scat Mats. To help with this type of training we've developed this set of doorway training notes.

Q: What do the experts say about the Scat Mat and its use training pets?
A: We consulted numerous animal welfare authorities when we brought the Scat Mat to market in the late 1980's. They concluded it has a positive roll to play in behavior training. Here are some of their comments.

Q: Can I cut my Scat Mat to reduce its size?
A: No, with one exception. The only exception is the Scat Strip.

Q: Can you make custom shapes or sizes?
A: No. Unfortunately not at this time.
