Name: Tepoxalin (pronounced te-pox-a-lin)
WHAT
ARE ZUBRIN TABLETS?
ZUBRIN Tablets are a veterinary
prescription Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that are
used to reduce pain and inflammation (soreness) due to osteoarthritis
in dogs. They are available as rapidly-disintegrating tablets and
are given to dogs by mouth.
Osteoarthritis
(OA) is a painful condition caused by wear and tear" of cartilage
and other parts of the joints that may result in the following changes
or signs in your (log:
o Limping or
lameness
o Decreased activity or exercise (reluctance to stand, climb stairs,
jump, run, or difficulty in performing these activities)
o Stiffness or decreased movement of joints
WHAT
KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT WHEN MY DOG IS ON ZUBRIN TABLETS FOR
OA?
While
ZUBRIN Tablets are not a cure for osteoarthritis, they can relieve
the pain and inflammation of OA and improve your (log's mobility.
o Response varies
from dog to dog but can be quite dramtic
o In most dogs, improvement can be seen in a matter of days
o If ZUBRIN
Tablets are discontinued or not given as directed, your dog's pain
and inflammation may come back
WHO
SHOULD NOT TAKE ZURBRIN TABLETS?
Your
dog should not be given ZUBRINTM Tablets if he/she:
o Has had an
allergic reaction to tepoxalin, the active ingredient of ZUBRIN
Tablets
o Has had an
allergic reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs (for example, carprofen,
etodolac, or phenylbutazone) such as hives, facial swelling, or
red or itchy skin
ZUBRIN"
TABLETS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO DOGS ONLY.
People should not take ZUBRIN Tablets. Keep ZUBRIN Tablets
and all medicine out of reach of children. Call a physician immediately
if ZUBRIN Tablets are taken accidentally.
HOW
TO GIVE GIVE ZUBRIN TABLETS TO YOUR DOG
ZUBRIN Tablets should be given according to your veterinarian will
tell you what amount of ZUBRIN Tables are right for your dog and
for how long it should be given by mouth. ZUBRIN Tablets should
be given with food or shortly (within 1 to 2 hours) after your dog
has eaten.
